_____
Since their inception as a group of unpaid volunteers in 1907, the Hermosa Beach Fire Department was steadfastly dedicated to the safety and well-being of this community. Through the years, the department evolved with advancements in equipment, training, and ultimately a transition to LA County Fire. The core values of bravery, service, and resilience have remained unchanged.
This exhibit brings you face-to-face with the history, challenges, and triumphs of the Hermosa Beach Fire Department.
Explore the stories and heroic acts that have shaped the department's legacy. We honor the historic hometown heroes who stood ready to protect their community at all hours of the day or night, never asking for recognition but always answering the call.
