Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Hermosa Beach, CA – Boogaloo Productions, in collaboration with Saint Rocke and the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, is thrilled to announce a stellar concert featuring Grammy-nominated artist Tab Benoit and acclaimed guitarist Anders Osborne, with special guest JD Simo. This extraordinary event will take place at Saint Rocke, bringing the rich legacy of blues back to Hermosa Beach.

In the 2000s, Steve Roberts' Cafe Boogaloo was renowned as one of Southern California’s premier venues for exceptional food, live blues, and jazz, making Hermosa Beach a destination for touring blues artists. Kirk Joseph of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band recalls, “Steve was notorious for booking the heaviest acts in town, including major touring artists who would only stop to play his little venue because he was the one running it.” Steve sold Cafe’ Boogaloo years ago but is now jumping back into the music scene. Says Roberts,“After a 15 year hiatus I thought I’d test the waters and see if the South Bay still has a taste for American Roots music and especially blues in the Boogaloo vein of things again. Working with Michelle [Crispin] at the Hermosa Chamber of Commerce and with Saint Rocke seems like the perfect opportunity to test the waters.”

The concert marks the revival of the blues scene in Hermosa Beach, paying homage to the vibrant music scene that Steve Roberts cultivated at Cafe Boogaloo, with artists that used to grace the Cafe’ Boogaloo stage all those years ago. Join us for an unforgettable night of live music, celebrating the legacy of blues and the community spirit of Hermosa Beach.

About the Artists:

Tab Benoit
Tab Benoit, a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist, has had a remarkable 30-year career. Born in Louisiana, Tab has recorded and performed with legends like Junior Wells, Charlie Musselwhite, George Porter Jr., Dr. John, and Willie Nelson. He has won multiple blues awards, including B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, and has been inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

Anders Osborne
Swedish-born Anders Osborne is a powerhouse guitarist and songwriter whose dynamic compositions have been covered by artists like Brad Paisley, Jonny Lang, Edwin McCain, and Trombone Shorty. Renowned for his electrifying performances, Osborne has toured with legends such as Keb’ Mo’, Toots and the Maytals, and many more.

JD Simo
Nashville guitarist, songwriter and producer/engineer JD Simo has an impressive recording portfolio, having worked with prominent artists including Beyoncé, Jack White, Dolly Parton, Tommy Emmanuel, Jack White, and Stevie Nicks.
