Dear Friend, I'm reaching out to invite you and your family to an important virtual town hall about student mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges to students, educators, and parents. Children have been especially vulnerable as we all grappled with the broad impacts of school closures and re-openings, physical distancing and social isolation, family loss or instability, and other unexpected changes. To help navigate these challenges, I'll be hosting a town hall on Wednesday, March 30, at 4:00 p.m. We'll discuss strategies and resources to support students as we recover from the pandemic with Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services CEO Dr. Jonathan Goldfinger, Los Angeles Unified School District Student Mental Health Director Joel Cisneros, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Mental Health Counseling Coordinator Shuli Lotan, and Torrance Unified School District Chief Academic Officer Dr. Katie Krumpe. While we are talking about family resources, we held a very successful webinar on stopping online and other scams last month. Expert panelists provided information about common traps like phone, e-mail, and social media scams and how to protect yourself and loved ones from fraudsters.
