SUMMARY:Climate Change Adaptation Project - Community Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The City of Hermosa Beach is beginning the Climate Change Adaptation and Resiliency Measures (CCARM) study to address coastal flooding and sea-level rise. Coastal flooding events and sea-level rise present a risk to our shoreline and recreation opportunities and could substantially damage public and private infrastructure (such as residences\, businesses\, roadways\, utilities\, and sidewalks) on Hermosa Avenue and The Strand. The CCARM's green infrastructure improvements aim to reduce these vulnerabilities from costal flooding compounded by climate change impacts.\n\nThis project will recommend a suite of green infrastructure\, sea-level rise resiliency improvements\, and a "living shoreline" concept to be incorporated into planning for mobility enhancements at three identified locations: Hermosa Avenue between Herondo and 4th Street\, Hermosa Avenue at Greenwich Village Drive\, and The Strand at 35th Street.\n\n\n\nPlease join us for the first in a series of public workshops on Wednesday\, September 29\, 2021\, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. This workshop will be conducted over Zoom. Your ideas and desired outcomes will help to inform the planning and design process for the CCARM and potential community improvements.
