Environmental groups will join legislators and city officials to celebrate this summer's passage of the Plastic Pollution Producer Responsibility Act (Senate Bill 54) and inform the community about it. The new law will help California move beyond plastic by mandating reductions in single-use foodware and packaging\, requiring single-use items to be recyclable or compostable by 2032\, and holding plastic packaging producers financially responsible for cleaning up the waste their products create.
