 Q & A with owner Carrie Quinn

How long have you been a Chamber member?
Maison Luxe has been a Chamber member for six years.
When did you start your business?
Maison Luxe began in 2007.
What is your business all about?
Maison Luxe has long been a design institution in Los Angeles. I focus on helping clients breathe life, energy and soul into an interior space. I strive to help customers create eclectic and timeless designs by incorporating a wide array of textures and time periods.
What makes your business unique?
What makes Maison Luxe unique can be explained in the name itself. We believe that your home should be a reflection of your life's journey. "Luxe" is meant to represent a wealth of experiences, knowledge and memories curated throughout the years. Maintaining that spirit, we avoid creating our own specific design style and rather focus on providing our clients a home that best reflects their lifestyle, whether that be beach chic, eclectic, contemporary, bohemian or traditional.
What did you do before starting your business?
A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, I am a long standing member of ASID and have over 25 years of experience in the world of interior design.
How big is your staff?
Our staff is comprised of three people.

How has your field changed since your business started?
Naturally, as the years pass, styles evolve. We pride ourselves on being "future forward" by observing and predicting the latest trends. We also believe in the importance of preserving the past and seamlessly incorporate rich history into the latest design fads.

What are the plans for your business' future?
Maison Luxe will continue to operate as both a boutique retail store and professional design studio on Pier Avenue. We are currently expanding our "To the Trade" program in which we partner with independent designers to provide trade discounts, project tracking technology, project management coaching and tips from experienced designers.

What is your most memorable moment with this business?
Our most memorable moment has to be our holiday tradition in which we brought "Clyde the Camel" to our business location for guests to pet and interact with him. Clyde's owner dressed as one of the wise men. We saw this as a perfect opportunity to help beachgoers get into the holiday spirit.

What’s the best thing about having a business in Hermosa?
The best thing about owning a business in Hermosa has everything to do with the community of people we serve. We feel lucky to have a client base comprised of passionate, genuine and laid-back individuals. It makes the job so much more enjoyable. The view isn't bad either.

What trends or insights are you finding in your field or market?
One major trend we're observing is the feeling of "anything goes." This means that design does not need to be confined to one specific style. Rather clients are embracing the eclectic feeling of overlapping time periods, fashions, vibes and textures. Secondly, we are seeing more and more clients work independently with our design team to really take ownership of feeling they want to curate in their home. With social media platforms like Pinterest and Houzz, clients have access to a wealth of information, which lets them feel like they're a bigger part of the design process.

What do you enjoy most about being a Hermosa Beach Chamber member?
The highlight of being a Hermosa Beach Chamber member is the opportunity to network among like-minded business people. I feel lucky to be a part of a group of people who are striving to support our beautiful beach community.

When you’re not working, where in Hermosa do you like to spend your time?
When I'm not working I enjoy spending my time at the beach and exploring Hermosa's wide offering of incredible shops, restaurants and boutiques.
