November 26, 2018 (HERMOSA BEACH, Calif.) – The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau hosts its annual Holiday Open House, Tree Lighting and Rock for Tots Charity Concert – now dubbed the Hermosa Beach Holiday Celebration, Saturday, December 1 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. in downtown Hermosa Beach!

People are encouraged to shop and dine throughout the day to enjoy the holiday atmosphere. Many restaurants and businesses downtown will be offering special “open house” promotions for the entire day.
This year’s entertainment is hosted by Jeremy Buck and Kevin Sousa, and will take place on a main stage at Pier Plaza beginning at 3pm. Performers include XYZPDQ, Jamisen Jarvis, V Torres, Joe CiPolla, Olivia Pucci, Barclay Roach, the Holiday All Star Band and many more. The Harmony Carolers will also be strolling downtown from 4 – 5:30 p.m.

Everyone is asked to donate a new, unwrapped toy for the Beach Cities Toy Drive, benefiting several South Bay charities that distribute gifts to families in need.

Hermosa Beach non-profit organizations will be selling hot chocolate, churros, popcorn and other holiday treats at “Santa’s Village” located on the Plaza. Plus, a full-size carousel welcomes everyone to hop on for a spin. Those who donate a toy receive a free ride! There is also a raffle in which people can win various prizes such as a free night in a hotel, a guitar and a bicycle.

A few of the Open House happenings this year will include a merchants’ Window Decorating Contest, with the winner being announced at the Live Stage by Jeremy Buck.  Other special treats include…

  • Laurel Tavern – an ugly sweater party featuring a drink special with hot buttered rum and cookies
  • Dia de Campo – live music from 2-6pm, eggnog cocktail specials
  • Hermosa Cyclery – visitors will earn a bike bell for correctly answering a bike safety question
  • Fritto Misto – purchase an entrée and receive a free dessert when you mention the Open House
  • Uncorked - $10 champagne tasting while shopping 10am-4pm
  • ITA Italian Street Food – receive a free mini chocolate cake with purchase of a pizza boat
  • Locale90 – complimentary appetizers for all tables
  • Seymour Jewelers – special sales on Raymond Weil watches, black Tahitian pearls and diamonds
At 6 p.m. the lighting of the Hermosa Beach Christmas tree takes place with the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children will be able to meet the Clauses for photos and tell Santa their wish list.

Our lead sponsor for this year’s event is Skechers, along with Kinecta, Bolour and Spyder. Additional sponsors include Southern California Edison, California Water Service, Beach Coast Insurance, Guitar Center, Hermosa Cyclery, Hotel Hermosa, 3V Signs & Graphics and the Beach House.

Proceeds from the carousel and raffle go to the Beach Cities Toy Drive. Remember there is free holiday parking in downtown Hermosa Beach for 2 and 3 hours at silver meters Nov. 27 through Dec. 25!

Nov. 26, 2018— (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) – Local Family Elf Hunt to take place Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 as part of the Hermosa Beach Holiday Celebration.  Participating retail stores and restaurants will host a specially named Elf-On-A-Shelf sign, and participants need to find the elves in each establishment and record the names. Also, a live elf will be roaming the downtown area in costume from 11 a.m. –3 p.m. and we encourage those playing along to get his autograph!
Perfect for families with kids, or adults shopping and ready to play, all participants are asked to pick up blank Elf Hunt cards at Stars Antique Market (526 Pier Ave.), Sol Baby (124 Pier Ave.) or Treasure Chest (50 Pier Ave), and turn them in to the Elf collection box at any of those 3 locations by 4 p.m. Participants only need 10 elf names for a card to be considered complete. All cards that are turned in will be submitted for a drawing to win a wonderful prize!
