HERMOSA BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND VISITORS BUREAU ANNOUNCES 2018 MAN AND WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNERS
 
December 26, 2018 (HERMOSA BEACH, Calif.) – The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau proudly announces the 2018 Man and Woman of the Year Award winners:

Man of the Year: George Barks

Woman of the Year: Adrienne Slaughter 

George served on the Hermosa Beach City Council for 12 years and served as the City’s Mayor in 1975, 1980, and 1985. He has been a member of the Hermosa Beach Sister City Association for 47 years - past President, current Vice President and Student Exchange Program Director for 12 years, sponsoring 180 students to become citizen diplomats in the International Sister City Program. Responsible for the Sister City Monument in Loreto Plaza, located at Pier Plaza, commemorating Hermosa and Loreto’s 50th Anniversary of Sister City Relations. 

Adrienne was awarded the 2015 Hero and Voice of Hope by the American Cancer Society California Division, was featured on the 2014 Stand Up To Cancer telecast at the Dolby Theatre, which aired worldwide, and tossed the Opening Ceremonial Pitch at Dodger Stadium.  She emceed the TeamSpirit 10K/5K Breast & Ovarian Cancer Fundraiser for Memorial Medical Center Foundation in Long Beach 3 years in a row and spoke to the LA Dodgers’ Foundation in Los Angeles. Former Board member and 15+ year member of the Woman's Club of Hermosa Beach. Founder of Adrienne's Search for Children's Cancer Cure, now in it's 13th year.

George and Adrienne will be honored at the Chamber’s annual Installation Dinner Gala, sponsored by Athens Services. The gala takes place on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. at The Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach.
