Walk With Sally (WWS) is a non-profit organization based in the El Segundo, CA, that lessens the burden of cancer for children and families through mentorship, mental health support, art healing and financial empowerment. WWS operates in 72 cities across the United States and is continuing to expand its impact nationwide. 
 
Overview:
As Walk With Sally has entered a stage of significant opportunity and growth, we seek a dynamic, creative, and entrepreneurial development professional who can lead a vibrant team and provide strategic leadership in development.
The Development Manager will be critical in expanding and strengthening development efforts to raise more than $1 million per year. This will take place through thoughtful relationship-building, the oversight of development systems and best practices for the organization, and close partnership with the CEO and internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate for this role will be collaborative, entrepreneurial, process-oriented, energetic, and adaptable. This will be someone who is well-versed in fundraising best practices, with the experience to develop strategic and effective fundraising plans, execute to meet objectives, and problem-solve independently.
 
The Development Manager will work Monday-Friday remotely, with one to two in office days per month (this does not include events and is also subject to change). They will have 24/7 access to the office. 
The Nonprofit Development Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing strategies to generate funding and support for the organization. This role involves cultivating relationships with donors, managing fundraising campaigns, and overseeing grant applications. The Development Manager works closely with the executive team to develop fundraising goals and strategies aligned with Walk With Sally’s organizational mission and objectives.
 
Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve annual revenue goals.
  • Identify new fundraising opportunities and innovative strategies to diversify funding sources.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align fundraising efforts with the organization's strategic priorities.

Donor Relations:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners.
  • Steward existing donors through regular communication, updates on organizational activities, and recognition of their contributions.
  • Research and identify prospective donors and develop strategies for donor engagement and solicitation.

Grant Management:
  • Research grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage grant reporting and compliance, including tracking deliverables and outcomes.
Fundraising Events:
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor cultivation events, galas and campaigns.
  • Coordinate event logistics, recruit volunteers, and oversee event budgets.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of events and implement improvements for future initiatives.
  1. Annual Gala
·       Works in partnership with leadership and development team members to build Gala strategy to maximize fundraising through table sales, major gifts, and auction revenue streams.
·       Leads strategy for WWS live fundraising at the Gala, alongside pre-committed giving.
·       Oversees all donor facing materials including but not limited to invitation suite, personalized solicitations, major gift opportunities, live giving opportunities, auction materials, and thank you strategies.
·       Oversees committee to engage leadership and ambassadors to help solicit gifts from their networks and guests.
 
Marketing and Communications:
  • Develop fundraising materials, including appeal letters, brochures, and online campaigns.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across fundraising initiatives and communication channels.
  • Leverage social media and digital platforms to promote fundraising campaigns and engage supporters.
 
Budgeting and Reporting:
  • Develop and monitor the fundraising budget, tracking revenue and expenses against targets.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress, including revenue projections, donor retention rates, and campaign outcomes.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to optimize fundraising strategies and tactics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development, with a proven track record of achieving fundraising goals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and cultivate relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills, with experience in grant writing, proposal development, and donor communications.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Classy - fundraising software and database management systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Experience with Los Angeles non-profit communities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fundraising experience at large scale organizations with a national and / or international reach in the non-profit cancer sector.

Compensation
This role's salary range is between $70,000-$80,000. Actual salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience. This role will also include health insurance.
